Should have a drain hole. If rain gets into the base there is no way for it to drain. Will eventually fill with water and rust.

Excellent. I have lost 2 glass topped tables due to the umbrella falling over. This base is a good heavy weight, solid, and a nice long neck. So far through a couple of heavy storms the umbrella has stayed in place. It does what it is supposed to do. Very good.
