Worth the money

- Q:I bought one of these about 10 years ago and have been pleased with it overall. But after a decade in the sun, the metal has gotten quite faded. Do you have any recommendations for how I might recoat it and what products I might use?A:The metal surface of this item is powder-coated, so it can be a bit difficult to achieve the exact same original finish when recoating. However, you can still refresh its appearance by following these steps: 1. Cover the areas where the coating is still intact with newspaper or masking material. 2. Clean the exposed, worn areas with a cleaner to remove any dirt, grease, or debris, and let it dry completely. 3. Lightly sand the surface to remove old paint and any rust, then wipe away dust with a clean cloth. 4. Apply a rust-preventive primer (such as a “Stops Rust Reformer Spray Paint”) evenly and allow it to dry. 5. Apply a metal spray paint in a similar color to the original finish. Spray in light coats, allowing 10–15 minutes between each coat, and repeat 2–3 times until the coverage blends well. 6. Let it dry naturally after the final coat. This should help improve both the appearance and durability of the metal surface.
