If you follow the instructions (it's all pictures so there is some guess work and common sense involved), the desk will be built real well. There are pre-drilled holes for all of the mounting hardware (screws, dowels, rails, etc.). Also, when you mount the rails, they go on the bottom of the panels that they are mounted to. You will see the predrilled holes there and it will also show it in the instructions (although it's a bit hard to see on the instruction manual). I don't know why anyone would try to mount the rails to the side of the panels considering these are compressed particle boards, common sense should've been enough to know now to mount the rails there and to mount it on the predrilled holes underneath the boards.Look at the instructions carefully, put together without screwing anything what you will be assembling first so you can see the orientation and make sure everything is facing the right way, THEN after everything is confirmed correct, screw it together.
