There is a huge difference between a Radiant and Convection (Space) heater. I was using a space heater in a cold bathroom for a few years. It was necessary to turn on the heater for a few hours to get the room warm. The heater was a 900 watt/1500 watt model. 900 watts in Low setting. This Costway heater is a radiant heater with the same two levels of 900 and 1500 watts. The difference is that the radiant heater only heats a focused area. All of the heat energy is radiated to a person for example. If you point the heater at your body from a few feet away, all of the heat energy is absorbed by yourself. There is no need to turn the heater on before you are in the room. Now I stand by the sink and take care of things while being wonderfully warmed. Instead of the previous 3-4 hours o

I was really excited to get this. At first, it was so much better than the old ceramic heater I was using at my desk that blew hot air in my eyes but left my feet frozen, and was loud and smelly. This heater warms up quickly and beautifully with even, radiant heat. No more dry eyes and cold feet! At first, it was completely silent, which was great. After a few uses, however, it has started making a loud rattling noise when it first comes on. Still seems to heat ok, and the noise eventually stops, but it is disturbing and disappointing.

I do not do write a review unless i really recommend an item and is worth spending money. I like infrared heat than ceramic heat bec ceramic heat has that fan that dries up the air more and causes us to sniffle in the morning after an hr or so of using them esp my son with asthma and esp living in AZ. The amount of heat can be adjusted well on this one because it has a knob for high and low and a separate knob for it unlike my other cheaper one ,which also works, but only has the knob for high(2)and low (1) and not as sturdy as this one. It is normal for it to make a sound when it starts like what it says on the manual then it will stop after a few seconds. I recommend this to my friends and family who have been to my house and i have family members who likes it too.

I prefer quartz heaters to radiators for my applications, which is to heat just the area by my chair not the whole room. So this was an ideal heater. It has a smaller footprint, sleek design

(purchasing my second heater) If you are not familiar with radiant heaters, they have desired advantages. 1) Very lightweight. 2) Silent (except a brief little rattle sound when first turned on. 3) Excellent heat dispersion without a noisy fan which adds to skin and eye drying. 4) This unit has a thermostat and has 2 power settings.
